How good was June 2007 Sensex-Nifty prediction?

" A sharp correction is due in mid phase of this month and may continue till late phase of the month. A more exact timing may be found in future weekly prediction that may be posted here. Small corrections and pullback will dot the entire month.The main indices could see net gains from May levels by approx 18- 21 ( because there will be pullback after mid month correction ) June but main indices likely to end this month with overall net monthly loss amidst volatility inspite of positive voices in the market"

Review: The prediction fared quite well in many key respects. (1) strong mid phase correction came a little early but was indicated in the weekly prediction (2) the sharp rise /recovery after correction came in the period indicated and confirmed quite emphatically in the that week's weekly prediction though rise was not good enough to take it near to May end levels. (3) corrections and pullbacks happened throughout the month

The key failure was that market did not drift down after June 19-21 recovery though it almost did except for last two days of June (please not contrary to chart depiction, sensex did end lower than May end levels)

Review: At the time of article TD was trading above current values and was further battered down before recovering. However June was TD share prices being again battered down to as low as Rs 52 per share.However June last phase has seen a good revival of nearly 30-35% based on goodnews flow including demerger information though no firm news about demerger has been announced

IFCI in June 2007 based on tarot cards" Cards indicate that IFCI may see further correction in intial phase of this month ( which is confirmed by today's trade) but this stock is going to zoom up as some great communication/news is going to come up during this month (something that was expected last month)

Review: After hitting a low of nearly 46 in early days of june,IFCI crossed 50+ many times but the real spurt came as we all know (see chart above) in last few days of June hitting a high of 56.90 on friday ( a high of nearly 58.70 on wednesday is ignored as it was a freak value)

For june 29,2007 at 11.30 am we predicted

"Today's prediction classified as high risk" Market may see new high of the day.however in afternoon ( time less certain) main indices may go down sharply from day's high. This could even happen in last hour of trade"

Review: Although the market went to a new high and even fell over 70 points in afternoon, it was not a time suggested by us nor was the fall as significant as expected.hence not a succesful prediction ( even though it was classified as high risk)

Result: Profit making prediction as Jeera roose more than 180 rupees approx before giving up 70 rupees in late afternoon

Prediction 3: Red chilli Gunter July futures. Sell in late afternoon (3-4 pm) approx if prices have seen sharpening prior to this ( close to intra day high).trade will be volatile today

Result: Those prices fell sharply in the indicated period, the strategy was invalid since the Sell recommendation was conditional on rising of chilli futures prices before the fall . The rise prior to fall was not significant enough. Hence neither a profit nor a loss making strategy

Review: Our prediction clearly indicated volatile day. The first part did not materialise since the fall inmorning trade was not significant. The other two section of our prediction were closer to the actual pattern observed.

Review: Since sensex-nifty dropped sharply in first hour of trade, our buy recommendation was applicable .However rise after that fall was not significant enough to give a profit

However our high risk prediction of a sharp fall in last 60 minutes was bang on target.

At around 10.45 am we predicted

" Sensex at 10.45am is down over 44 points and nifty down about 19 points. While lower values of sensex-nifty are likely in next one hour, buy on further correction as market will rise temporarily by afternoon but fall again in late afternoon"

Review: See the nifty intra day chart above. Nifty rose high enough from 10.45 am level to give some profits and fell sharply to give even more profits on short positions as predicted.

However we failed to predict the sharp recovery in late trade

Review of Weekly Sensex-Nifty Prediction for June 4-8, 2007

In our monthly June 2007 prediction based on Tarot cards we included a weekly prediction for last week indicating a mid week correction but pullback towards end of week.

While mid week correction was quite steep ( hence shorts would have been profitable), the rise towards end of week especially on Thursday ( intra day rise of more than 100 points)was good enough to give profits on long positions built around midweek though the rise itself was temporary.

However the sensex could see net gains for this month and one may be left wondering why the market have risen ( in absence of great specific news).Strategy for short term traders :Traders and short term investors should take advantage of directional changes. Around Mid may after the market has seen good gains, it may time to go short( sell). Sharp fall which is possible in second half of month ( approx 15-21 may) will be followed by quick equally good rise hence an opportunity to buy again for trading purposes.Perhaps the best thing about Month of May will be that negative view associated with this month ( particularly after what happened in last two years) will become diminished if not reversed even though volatility in second half of month is likely to be high."

Review of May 2007 Prediction: May 2007 prediction turned out to be good in many respects with May registering net gains mostly by mid phase of the month and even exceeded our expectations.Secondly sharp correction and sharp pull back and implied volatility occurred shortly after May 21.
